BUT WHY DO THEY OPPOSE THE WAR?

Brian, I agree that the Democrats are being very hypocritical, and it is always difficult to determine what they really believe. The question here is, do the Democrats really oppose the war or do they merely oppose the President? If they oppose the war, they better give a good reason because their usual reason for all their positions -- that they care -- doesn't work this time. I can't figure out why the left opposes the invasion other than a general opposition to war, the consequences of such weakness be damned. Maureen Dowd's particularly incoherent piece today is further evidence that the left's anti-war position is no more than personal animosity toward Bush, Rumsfeld, et al.
