GOING NUCLEAR
Senator Frist is going ahead with a plan to change Senate rules regarding cloture votes, consistent with a recent recommendation of Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga) and a 1995 plan put forward by Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-Ct) and Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Ia). Here's a chance for the Democrats to make a change that will decrease partisanship rancor over judicial nominations and will help the next Democrat president. If they think there will never be another Democrat in the White House, then it would be reasonable for them to resist the rule change.
