BELOW THE BELT CAMPAIGNINGA recent
Gallup poll shows that more people think that Kerry has unfairly attacked Bush than vice versa. Appropriate time for this brand new cartoon from Federal Review's
in-house cartoonist:
PRIVATIZE MEDICARE?I guess I haven't been paying attention, but I didn't realize someone was suggesting we privatize Medicare. I certainly wouldn't reflexively oppose the idea. Here's the AFL-CIO's position:

Clearly, the sign isn't complete. It should say:
DON'T
PRIVATIZE
MEDICARE
The Government's doing a great job.
Thank you, President Bush!
DUMBED-DOWN POLITICSBush wrapped up the Republican nomination last night, while Kerry is closing in on his. Also, last night, political argument reached new heights of rhetorical eloquence as
Kerry said "It must be getting lonely for George Bush. It seems he's the last person left in America who actually believes his failed policies will ever work." I have no doubt a similar inability to discuss actual issues forthrightly and honestly will elude both parties over the next few months. It's a shame, but expect demagoguery to be the order of the day.
SURPRISE, SURPRISE
To the surprise of, probably, no one, information is surfacing to indicate that John Kerry is orchestrating the attacks on President Bush's campaign ads.
Apparently, the group behind the attacks is partially funded by foundations tied to Teresa Heinz Kerry:
The ...organization representing the families of September 11 victims who are critical of campaign ads by President Bush is a project of the Tides Center, which has received millions of dollars in charitable contributions from foundations chaired by Teresa Heinz Kerry.
Furthermore, according to the American Spectator:
Despite denials that the Kerry campaign criticized the Bush ads, the Kerry camp did reach out family members of people killed on 9/11 whom they knew were supporters of Kerry and asked if they'd be willing to denounce the ads publicly.
Those people were given the names of assignment editors at cable news channels and network news outlets, as well as talking points for them to use if they were interviewed.
I'm sure the "mainstream media" will be bringing this up any day now.
