California pays in IOUs...you must pay in cash

http://hotair.com/archives/2009/08/09/california-you-owe-us-taxes-on-those-ious/

Lead plaintiff Nancy Baird filled her contract with California to provide embroidered polo shirts to a youth camp run by the National Guard, but never was paid the $27,000 she was owed. She says California “paid” her with an IOU that two banks refused to accept - yet she had to pay California sales tax on the so-called “sale” of the uniforms.

Is it any wonder why Nevada is outpacing everyone in the US in growth? And this was back in 2004.

Who exactly is manufacturing outrage?

The first video is just to lay the ground work for the protestors...but the second video is pretty telling.

Now...I will admit there are probably republican emails being dispatched telling republicans when/where congressmen hope to have a public forum to promote the healthcare bill they plan to sign, regardless of their constituent's opinions (breathe).

But how can Gibbs, Boxer, et al claim to patronize the public with the nazi comments, the Brooks Brothers claim, and the astroturfing meme when their very own great community organizer is sending emails talking about this...

Now...again...I ask. Who exactly is manufacturing outrage?

Good info too...

0BAMA CARE?

OFFICIALS OF THE OREGON HEALTH PLAN TO BARBARA WAGNER - DROP DEAD!

When Barbara’s lung cancer reappeared during the spring of 2008 her oncologist recommended aggressive treatment with Tarceva, a new chemotherapy. However, Oregon’s state run health plan denied the potentially life altering drug because they did not feel it was "cost-effective." Instead, the State plan offered to pay for either hospice care or physician-assisted suicide.

snip

When queried about withholding Barbara’s treatment, Dr. Walter Shaffer, a spokesman for Oregon’s Division of Medical Assistance Programs, explained the policy this way, "We can't cover everything for everyone. Taxpayer dollars are limited for publicly funded programs. We try to come up with policies that provide the most good for the most people."

Dr. Som Saha, chairman of the commission that sets policy for the Oregon Health Plan, echoed Shaffer, "If we invest thousands and thousands of dollars in one person's days to weeks, we are taking away those dollars from someone [else]."

It seems that Barbara Wagner is a "negative economic unit."

No thanks 0bama.

G.I. Joe Director: This is Not a George Bush Movie

LOS ANGELES--The director of the new movie "G.I. Joe: the Rise of Cobra" thinks President Obama is "a Real American hero," but apparently wants Republicans to stay home.

According to the Los Angeles Times:
When it comes to selling "G.I. Joe" outside the U.S., the message is "this is not a George Bush movie -- it's an Obama world," director Stephen Sommers said. "Right from the writing stage we said to ourselves, this can't be about beefy guys on steroids who all met each other in the Vietnam War, but an elite organization that's made up of the best of the best from around the world."

Sommers, the director of such genre films as "the Mummy Returns" and "VanHelsing," is hoping that the film will appeal to international markets, where action films "often earn 60% or more of their ticket sales [but] rah-rah American sentiment doesn't play well," the paper noted.

As a result, overseas advertising is playing up scenes from other countries and downplaying anything that could be seen as American patriotism.

It's a different story in middle America, however. According to the Times, the film's creators are tying "G.I. Joe" to the military and country music:
[The film] is embedded in the Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd concert tour, advertised at the Country Music Television Awards and excerpted on giant video screens at Minnesota's Mall of America. It is bombarding Kansas City, Charlotte, Columbus and Grand Rapids on new digital billboards.

The subtext is none too subtle: Critics are likely to roast the film, and fanboys of the original toy line and comic book may be indifferent, but if you're a flag-waving, Nascar-loving American, it's practically your patriotic duty to see this movie.

As a result, the big budget film is expected to open well. However, as the Joe heroes used to say "knowing is half the battle." Once audiences realize that the film is trying to market itself to two separate audiences it's possible that neither will be pleased with what's on the screen.

Democrat Congress censors "free" speech of Republicans

Democrats are preventing Republican House Members from sending their constituents a mailing that is critical of the majority’s health care reform plan, blocking the mailing by alleging that it is inaccurate.
House Republicans are crying foul and claiming that the Democrats are using their majority to prevent GOP Members from communicating with their constituents.

Full story here.

I would be interested to see how our liberal friends defend this assault on free speech.

a picture worth a thousand words

In his rush to get his ill-conceived "beer summit" over, President Obama (oblivious to the physical disability of his good friend) nearly bolted out of the White House and onto the lawn - leaving his guests in his wake.

Meanwhile, the racist cop whom Obama claimed acted "stupidly," assisted the elderly agitator down the White House steps.

To be fair, it's possible that the President wasn't so much immune to the sufferings of his good friend, "Skip" Gates, as he was simply trying to get to the table before his gaffe prone Vice President.

Can't have Biden sitting in the presidential chair now, can we?

Three Questions

Question 1:
Why in hell was Biden invited? Did he also claim that the police acted stupidly?

Question 2:
Did Obama really think that the forced gathering of a cop and a race-baiting Harvard professor would make him look like any less of an ass for having bashed police departments across the nation?

Question 3:
Is the White House patio funiture made in China?

Obama balances budget on the back of the military.

Not exactly. President Obama isn't balancing anything, let alone the budget, but he is definitely putting the screws to the military.

The order from Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates is based on an assumption that there will be no real growth in defense budgets over the next five years, a radical departure for a department whose budgets have increased more than 80 percent since 2001....

One of the driving factors so far in the evaluation is the prospect that defense budgets largely will be static in fiscal 2011 through fiscal 2015, said David Ochmanek, deputy assistant secretary of defense for force transformation and resources.

The military services must “find offsets” to make room for the new capabilities that Gates wants to add or expand, he said. “They’re now busily looking for those billpayers,” said Ochmanek. “That’s how the zero growth assumption manifests itself.”

A billion dollars for clunkers, another billion for horse contraception, and three-quarters of a trillion for miscellaneous pork projects, but nothing for our troops engaged in two simultaneous wars. That's life in the Obamanation.

Got incompetence?
